In the past, the ADA has required that any patient with an artificial joint and/or a heart condition take an antibiotic pre-medication before any dental visit. Last year they changed that requirement to affect ONLY patients who have heart conditions. Unless your individual doctor still wants you to take pre-medication for joint replacements, the ADA has decided it is not necessary.
